The Rangers manager is moving on from the Ryan Kent transfer saga, for now.
Kent was a dazzling member of Gerrard’s team last season, winning the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award and helping the club to a second place finish in the Scottish Premiership.
Having returned to Liverpool to be assessed in this summer, speculation has been rife throughout the transfer window that he could return on another season-long loan.
However, Gerrard has put the matter to bed for now after having a private conversation with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp earlier this week.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the former Anfield captain said: “It has been addressed and we move on. Where we are right now, yes, that is the end of it.
“I think we respect Liverpool’s stance and we thank them very much for allowing us to work with Ryan for a year.
“I had a good conversation on the phone with Jurgen a few days ago and we totally respect Liverpool’s position on it.”
The Ibrox boss also confirmed to The Scottish Sun that they are not actively looking to add to the squad unless the right opportunity comes up, currently happy to work with the players in place.
Gerrard has already moved to strengthen the position Kent played in, signing Jordan Jones from Kilmarnock.
The current shape of the Rangers team involves more centrally involved attacking midfielders than out and out wingers, meaning Gerrard could have more left-sided options as the season progresses, including utilising Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo as more direct support for a striker.
The loss of Kent has already been mitigated somewhat then, with Gerrard perhaps recognising that securing a move for the attacker again was always something of a long shot.
However, the fact he is not returning is still a blow and fans may be hoping that another creative signing can be found before the end of the transfer window.
