Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership, 11 points behind Celtic.
David Weir has admitted to The Sunday Post that Rangers were a bit naive to believe they could seriously challenge Celtic for the Premiership title this season.
Mark Warburton’s Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership but a whopping 11 points separates them from their Old Firm rivals, who have two games in hand.
The Gers were tipped to be competitive after beating Celtic – then managed by Ronny Deila – on penalties in a Scottish Cup semi-final last season.

But Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic have simply been too good for everybody in the top flight so far this season and Moussa Dembele – who has 17 goals in all competitions following his £500,000 switch from Fulham – has played a big role in that.
Rodgers also signed former Liverpool and Manchester City defender Kolo Toure on a Bosman during the summer, while Scott Sinclair also joined in a £3 million deal from Aston Villa.
Rangers also managed to recruit a number of big names but they were all signed for next to nothing.

“Maybe we all got carried away by winning that game and thinking we could challenge and compete,” he told The Sunday Post. “I think we are challenging, but the reality is that, when you look at where the clubs have been in the last three, four, five years, there is going to be gap.
“Look at Celtic’s team. How many internationalists have they got? If they have Forrest and Sinclair out, they bring in Roberts and Griffiths. They are top players on a lot of money.
“There is a challenge for us to bridge that gap and it doesn’t happen overnight. Celtic have signed Scott Sinclair, Kolo Toure and Moussa Dembele. They are international players on international wages.”
