Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack posted on Instagram that John McGinn is ‘flying’ after Aston Villa beat Leicester City 2-1 on Sunday.
There were familiar faces pitting their tactical wits against each other on the Villa Park touchline yesterday, when ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard faced up against former Old Firm rival, Brendan Rodgers.
It was Gerrard who came out victorious against his former boss, despite the Foxes taking the lead in the first half.
McGinn was his typical all-action self during the game and one of the best players on the pitch for Villa, as Gerrard picked up his third win in four matches since leaving Ibrox last month.
Scotland fans have been used to seeing McGinn fly about the pitch on a regular basis, including helping his country to Euro 2020 and now just two games away from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
And all of that is stemming from what he is producing week in and week out on a regular basis in the colours of Claret and Blue.
When McGinn posted on Instagram about yesterday’s win, Rangers’ Jack simply posted to his fellow countryman ‘flying mate’.
Whilst ex-Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor added: “Some player you are” added with fire emojis.
Many will look towards McGinn as someone who can thrive under the stewardship of Gerrard over the long-term.
For Scotland, McGinn scores a lot more goals compared to what he does for Villa.
A lot of that is down to him being much deeper for Villa, but under Gerrard, he is being pushed further forward and it won’t be too long before he is scoring on a regular basis from the middle of the park.
