Former Rangers and Malmo star Roberty Prytz thinks there is “only one outcome” if Ibrox is in full voice next week when his former sides meet in the second leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie – a home win.

The Gers trail 2-1 on aggregate after Tuesday’s first leg in Sweden but Prytz still thinks Rangers will turn things around and set up a playoff clash with Olympiacos or Ludogorets later this month.

The Swede admits Rangers failed to live up to expectations in Sweden on Tuesday night but thinks it should be a different story in Glasgow next week as the Light Blues look to get a full-house inside Ibrox for the first time since March 2020.

“I expected better from Rangers but it will still be difficult for Malmo to win,” Prytz told the Daily Record.

“Rangers didn’t show what they’re capable of. From what I’ve seen of Malmo so far in the Swedish league, they will probably try to sit back and defend and hold out.

“But if they do that then it will cost them. If Ibrox is full then it will be a huge factor. If you have a 50,000 crowd then you have the best fans in the world.

“And if they are sitting there singing then there is only one outcome – Rangers. Rangers only need to win 1-0 to take it to extra time.

“Malmo definitely played better than I expected. I didn’t think they could be that good. And Rangers didn’t play up to their standard.”

Before Rangers can focus on the second leg against Malmo, there’s the Premiership trip to Tannadice to face Dundee United to get through.

After three points and a cleansheet against Livingston last weekend, a repeat would be a fantastic start to the league campaign for the champions.

There will almost certainly be several changes to the side from Tuesday as Gerrard welcomes back the likes of Glen Kamara, Kemar Roofe and Leon Balogun from suspension.
