Rangers have landed Manchester City’s Mark Allen as their new Director of Football – and he has offered his reaction on the club’s official website.
After Mark Warburton’s exit as manager in February, Rangers also confirmed that transfer chief Frank McParland left the club, with the Gers pushing for a new structural model.

Rangers decided that they wanted to land a Director of Football to work above and alongside new manager Pedro Caixinha, but they were left frustrated in their pursuit of their top target.
As reported by BBC Sport, Rangers were snubbed by Southampton’s Ross Wilson, but they have now managed to lure their new Director of Football from a Premier League club.
Manchester City’s Mark Allen, who has been working as the club’s academy director for the last nine years, has tonight been confirmed as Rangers’ new Director of Football after days of speculation.

Allen, 54, has been a key part of the City setup since Sheikh Mansour’s takeover in 2008, helping nurture a number of young players at the Etihad Stadium.
Now though, the Welshman will undertake a completely new role at Rangers, as rather than solely working with young players as he did at City, he will now primarily oversee new signings at Ibrox.

After Rangers confirmed the deal, Allen offered his reaction by telling the club’s official website that whilst he loved his time with City, he wanted a new challenge – and is delighted to have joined a club with so much history and tradition in Rangers.
“I loved every minute of my time with Manchester City, they are a club with fantastic people and fantastic supporters but the time was right for me to look for a fresh challenge and I am joining one of the world’s truly great football clubs,” said Allen.
“Steeped in history and tradition, I am honoured to join Rangers and work with the Board of Directors, Pedro Caixinha, his management team and the staff at the Club,” he added.
