Could we see WWE head to Rangers’ Ibrox home one day?

Wrestling fans around the world may well have woken up today like it’s Christmas morning, as WWE’s biggest show of the year – WrestleMania – takes place in New York tonight.

After a weekend full of Independent wrestling and even WWE’s build-up shows such as NXT Takeover and the Hall of Fame ceremony, the big event is drawing ever closer.

Whilst many of the fans in attendance will be from the United States, British fans will also have made the long journey to the Big Apple for tonight’s huge show.

British wrestling’s revival in recent years has been huge, and resulted in a host of UK born and based wrestlers being signed by WWE.

One of those, Noam Dar, is Israeli born but was raised in Ayr from the age of five, and remains a favourite for many Scottish wrestling fans after leaving the independent scene for WWE.

Dar has grown up a huge Rangers fans, and isn’t even the only WWE wrestler to support the Gers, with Drew Galloway – set to star on tonight’s show – also a big Rangers supporter.

Now, Dar has admitted to The Scottish Sun that he would love to see WrestleMania in the UK, even suggesting for the show to take place at his beloved Ibrox, whilst offering Celtic a smaller show.

Dar added that he would like to fight Celtic captain Scott Brown, which isn’t a huge shock from a huge Rangers fan, and even tweeted the Bhoys skipper to offer him a bout later this month.

“I think having WrestleMania in the UK is more realistic now than ever,” said Dar. “As the company continues its international expansion I’d imagine they’ll look for somewhere overseas to do it. Hopefully they make the right choice and they do a WrestleMania at Hampden, not at Wembley or one of these daft places.”

“I would also love to see it at Ibrox. Perhaps we could do WrestleMania at Ibrox and then a wee NXT taping at Parkhead, so Celtic fans don’t complain! But seriously though, I think doing it at Hampden would be amazing. Scott Brown looks like a cruiserweight, but regardless of what weight class he’s in, I think I’d still have a chance at him in the ring!” he added.
