Rangers-mad duo Oli McBurnie and George Byers have poked fun at Celtic.
Celtic’s Champions League hopes came crashing down on Tuesday night – and Swansea City duo Oli McBurnie and George Byers have taken great joy in their defeat.
The Bhoys could only manage a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their qualifying tie with AEK Athens last week, despite the Greek champions being down to 10 men, and they followed that up with a 1-0 defeat at Hearts on Saturday.
Celtic needed a response away at AEK tonight, but Rodrigo Galo put the hosts in front, and Marko Livaja made it 2-0 on the night for AEK, meaning Celtic needed two goals to go through on away goals.
Scott Sinclair pulled one back for Celtic, but they couldn’t find the second goal, and the Bhoys have now crashed out of the Champions League in a shock early exit for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Bhoys fans are hugely disappointed with the exit and the state of Celtic right now, given their defeat to Hearts and their all-round underwhelming business in the transfer market this summer.
Whilst Celtic supporters are rocked, Rangers fans are basking in the pain of their rivals, and two notable Gers fans have taken to Twitter to react to the result tonight.
Swansea City striker and Scotland international Oli McBurnie took to Twitter this evening to poke fun at Celtic, asking fans if they fancied kebabs after AEK’s win, posting the Greece flag alongside his message – and Swansea teammate George Byers, another Rangers fan, joined in the mocking of Celtic as the pair echoed the thoughts of Gers supporters around the world.
