Rangers ace Jordan Thompson moved away from Ibrox to Scottish Championship side Livingston this month.

Rangers loanee Jordan Thompson posted on Instagram on Sunday after making his full debut for loan side Livingston in a 2-0 win over Dumbarton in which he starred for 74 minutes.

The 21-year-old joined the Scottish Championship promotion candidates earlier this month and made his debut as a substitute during a 1-0 loss away at Queen of the South – where Myles Beerman is currently on loan.

The central midfielder, who moved to Ibrox from Manchester United’s youth academy in July 2015, lined up alongside another Rangers loanee in Ryan Hardie. The latter found the back of the net first in a comfortable home victory.

Thompson posted on his Instagram account after the match following a commanding performance in the middle of the park in what was a 3-5-2 system fielded by manager David Hopkin.

He stated: “Great to make my full debut for Livingston and get the 3 points yesterday. Lads were excellent.”

Thompson, like Hardie and Beerman, is playing for his future at Ibrox with his current contract under Graeme Murty set to expire in the summer. He has made just three senior appearances for the Scottish giants.

The Gers boast an abundance of central midfielders, following the signings of Greg Docherty and Sean Goss, alongside Jason Holt, Andy Halliday, Ross McCrorie, Ryan Jack and Jamie Barjonas.

First-team football is at a premium, but at least on loan with Livingston he can show why he deserves a chance at a longer Ibrox spell. His performance on Saturday will not have done his chances any harm.
