Rangers loanee impresses these fans as St Johnstone catch the eye again in Europe

Rangers winger Glenn Middleton returned to St. Johnstone on loan earlier this month after helping the Saints to a historic domestic cup double last season – and Gers fans on Twitter were impressed as the Scotland under-21 star helped Callum Davidson’s side to a more-than-creditable 1-1 draw.

The Saints took a 17th-minute lead through Chris Kane and it was Middleton who provided the assist on his European debut for the Perth side.

The Rangers loanee picked the ball up on left before delivering an excellent ball for Kane to slide home.

Middleton continued to cause problems for the hosts down the left flank with his direct runs exploiting gaps in the LASK defence.

The Austrians drew level soon after the restart, scoring from the spot after a foul by Jamie McCart with Middleton having passed up a fantastic chance to make it 2-0 just moments earlier.

St. Johnstone could have gone on to win the game but will go back to McDiarmid Park in a solid position as they look to secure their place in the group stage and pocket a €3million windfall.
