Rangers are keen to lure Aberdeen teenager Lancelot Pollard to Ibrox but face competition from Premier League giants Liverpool.

That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim that Rangers are determined to bring Pollard to Ibrox.

The problem for Rangers is that English clubs are also looking to sign the teenager.

Liverpool and Manchester United both have an interest in Pollard so Rangers won’t exactly have it easy.

Rangers are though prepared to pay a six-figure fee for Pollard in order to win the race.

The report doesn’t state how old Pollard is, but Aberdeen posted a superb solo goal from Pollard back in 2017.

Pollard was playing for the Under-17’s then, so we will assume he is playing at Under-16 level right now.

Liverpool have just raided Scottish football by signing Celtic wonderkid Ben Doak ahead of next season.

It seems that Liverpool are once again looking towards the Scottish market for another young recruit by going Pollard.

The prospect of playing at Anfield has to be appealing to young players and the Reds will be hoping to tempt Pollard down to Merseyside.

For Rangers, they will simply be hoping that the teenager wants to stay in Scotland for a while yet.

The move to England doesn’t always work for young Scottish talent – Islam Feruz springs to mind – and Rangers will hope that Pollard avoids the move south of the border at this stage in his development.

Rangers have been active with their youth recruitment this year by snapping up English talent Johnly Yfeko, Romanian defender Kevin Ciubotaru and Ugandan midfielder Christian Mulindwa.

The hope for Rangers is that Pollard will now snub English interest and follow suit by joining the Ibrox youth ranks this summer.
