Glasgow Rangers could have an outside chance of bringing Charlie Adam back to Ibrox this summer, according to the bookmakers at least.

Bookmaker SkyBet has listed Rangers as the 9/2 second favourites to sign Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam before the end of the summer transfer window, while Cardiff City have been listed as the favourites.

Adam has one year left on his contract with the Potters, and while he previously suggested that he wanted to stay at the Bet365 Stadium and even extend that deal, he essentially suggested that you could never say never when asked about a potential return to Ibrox eight years after his departure (via Herald Scotland).

His position in Mark Hughes’ side has also been left a little less clear following the acquisition of West Brom midfielder Darren Fletcher after his contract at the Hawthorns expired.

And while SkyBet believe that Adam is most probably going to stay at Stoke – he is 1/2 to stay put – a return to Ibrox does not appear to be off the table entirely, with a move to Pedro Caixinha’s men being given odds of 9/2.

However, if the Gers do want to land the Scotland international, it appears that they may have to rival Cardiff for his signature as SkyBet have listed the Championship side as 7/2 favourites to sign him before the end of the window.

Predicting the chances of a move away will perhaps become slightly easier over the coming weeks if it becomes clearer what Mark Hughes’ plans are for Adam now that Fletcher has come through the door.
