Charlton Athletic manager Karl Robinson has told The Daily Record that Paul Mitchell would be a good recruitment for Rangers.

According to The Daily Record, Rangers want to appoint Mitchell as their new director of football.

The 35-year-old is currently serving his notice at Tottenham Hotspur after resigning from his position as the club’s head of recruitment in December.

It has been reported that Mitchell is expected to officially leave Tottenham in the summer.

Rangers are keen on appointing Mitchell as their new director of football, according to The Daily Record.

Charlton manager Robinson has spoken highly of Mitchell, having worked with him at Milton Keynes Dons.

“If Rangers go for Paul, he’d be a terrific appointment,” Robinson told The Daily Record. “If you look at the clubs he’s been at, MK Dons, Southampton and Spurs, he’s always had amazing success.

“He’s been able to capture players for those clubs who have gone on to be really successful.”

“Regardless of what anyone says, Glasgow Rangers are still one of the biggest clubs in the world,” added Robinson. “They’re an institution.

“Glasgow is a great city as well so it’s a job that people like Paul might see as one of the best challenges in British football.”

Mitchell is highly rated within the footballing community. The 35-year-old was instrumental in finding Sadio Mane for Southampton and bringing Dele Alli to Tottenham Hotspur.

If Rangers are able to convince Mitchell to become the club’s new director of football, then they would be doing a very good piece of recruitment business.

The Ibrox outfit are third in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 43 points from 26 matches. Rangers are as many as 33 points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
