Rangers are reportedly keen on re-signing midfielder Steven Davis.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Rangers are interested in bringing former midfielder Steven Davis back to the club from Southampton this summer.
Rangers have been busy in the transfer market this summer, adding six new faces to the squad to boost Steven Gerrard’s options, whilst Jamie Murphy has signed permanently from Brighton and Hove Albion.
One of those signings is veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who is making his return to Ibrox following his 2012 exit – and one of the players who left with him upon Rangers’ liquidation could also be in line for a return to Glasgow.

Sky Sports believe that Rangers want to lure Southampton midfielder Steven Davis back to Ibrox this summer, with Gerrard seemingly searching for more midfielders to support the likes of Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans, Greg Docherty, Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria.
Davis has been a solid performer for the Saints since making a 2012 move to the South Coast, notching 14 goals in 220 appearances – but he started just 17 league games for the Saints last season.
With Stuart Armstrong heading from Celtic to Southampton this summer, Davis is slipping down the pecking order at St. Mary’s Stadium, and the time has never been better to return to Rangers.

Back in 2013, Davis admitted to the Daily Record that he was planning to return to Rangers at some point in his career, and it now seems that his wish could come true as Rangers seek to sign the Northern Ireland international 10 years after landing him from Aston Villa.
Davis may be past his prime now, but he remains a consistent performer with great quality on the ball, and he could be a fine signing for Rangers if paired with the youthful Docherty in midfield – and he is potentially heading back to Glasgow with plenty still left in the tank, rather than returning when he has little to offer.
