Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has reportedly opened talks over a move to lure Dom Solanke to Ibrox.
Liverpool striker Dom Solanke has underlined that he is happy at Anfield in an interview with the Liverpool Echo, amid reports that the young forward is interesting Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
The Daily Record claim Rangers have opened preliminary third-party talks over a move to sign 20-year-old forward Solanke on loan, who only joined Liverpool last summer from bitter rivals Chelsea.
Solanke has been forced to feed off scraps at Anfield this season. Though he has made 27 league and cup appearances for the Reds, 21 of those have been from the substitutes’ bench.
The likes of Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings are considered above Solanke in the pecking order, while Jurgen Klopp is set to welcome back Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge from their loan spells. But he insists he is happy at Liverpool.
“It’s always hard to move, but it’s part of football and you have got to make a change for your career sometimes and I’m happy I came here and want to try and carry on doing what I can do,” Solanke said.
“I think a club like this is always hard to ignore. A lot of people in the world would want to come here.”
One-time England international Solanke is just one of a number of Liverpool’s young stars that have been linked with a move north of the border to Gerrard’s Rangers, along with Ben Woodburn, Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson.
The Gers already boast plenty in attack, with Alfredo Morelos and Eduardo Herrera while Jason Cummings could join Gerrard’s side on a permanent basis.
However, the Liverpool legend is expected to add another striker to his side in the summer window, as he looks to create a side capable of catching Old Firm rivals Celtic.
