Glasgow Rangers were reported to be keen to sign Rashid Sumaila last summer.

Pedro Caixinha’s spell at Rangers did not end well and one the of the factors was a disappointing contribution from big name signing Bruno Alves.
Alves was released from his Rangers contract yesterday, shortly after the man the Gers could have signed instead clinched a move of his own.
Rangers ended up moving for Alves instead, and Caixinha was out of a job by late October.
It is hard to say if signing Sumaila would have changed his or Rangers’ fortunes, but the defender has now finally clinched a move to Europe.

Sumaila has over the past week clinched a move to Serbian side Red Star Belgrade, where he becomes the seventh Ghanaian to feature for the club.
Ghanaweb report Sumaila could even get the chance to play in the Champions League for his new club, and so his extra year could be worth the wait.
Sumaila is only 25, and with Alves discarded already, Rangers will probably reflect that they made the wrong choice.
