Rangers have been linked with a host of midfielders this summer, with Bongani Zungu one of the main names.

The Daily Record claim that Rangers are closing in on a deal for Preston North End midfielder Daniel Johnson, which would add some more creativity and goals.

Others have been linked though, and a more combative option touted for a move to Ibrox was Amiens ace Bongani Zungu.

French newspaper Courier-Picard reported in August that Rangers pulled out of a deal to sign Zungu due to feeling concerns over his fitness.

Zungu, 27, suffered relegation with Amiens last season, and it seems that they’re willing to sell him this summer.

The South African may not be on the Rangers radar now due to those fitness concerns, but his social media activity may have just sparked some interest.

Zungu was asked on Twitter whether he is still playing for Amiens, and he said ‘no I’m not’, prompting a number of Rangers fans to respond telling him to join the Gers – and he even ‘liked’ one of them.

Maybe Zungu is still holding out hope for a move to Ibrox, but with Rangers looking elsewhere, he may be disappointed.
