Rangers-linked boss Ange Postecoglou is seriously considering an offer to return to management… but it’s not from Ibrox.
Postecoglou left his Australia post last month, shortly after ESPN reported that he was interested in the vacant Rangers position.
However, Rangers chairman Dave King all-but ruled out the 52-year-old’s appointment on Thursday, telling the club’s AGM, as quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald: “What we didn’t want to do was go for a foreigner who had no experience of British or Scottish football.”
And Postecoglou could soon be out of the running for good, with the same publication reporting that he is “seriously considering” an offer from Yokohama F Marinos, and could finalise a move to Japan as early as next week.
Marinos, who are part owned by the City Football Group holding company, are severing their ties with Frenchman Erick Mombaerts at the end of this year.
CFG are the majority owners of Manchester City, from whom Rangers have taken director of football Mark Allen and winger Aaron Nemane in recent months, and Melbourne City among others.
The Scottish Sun reported on Friday that Rangers are close to making an approach for Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes.
