Rangers legend Mark Hateley thinks there should be nothing for Gers fans to be concerned about over Alfredo Morelos future at the club with the Englishman certain the Light Blues are “prepared for every eventuality.”

Morelos’ agent has been hocking him around, as is almost tradition when the transfer window opens, and reports have suggested Porto areclosing in on a move for the Colombian.

While Gers fans are worried about potentially losing the club’s all-time record European goalscorer, Hately is confident there will be “two or three” replacement already identified by the Rangers hierarchy.

“Rangers are at a stage now where they are prepared for every eventuality,” Hateley told the BBC.

“They are always going to be proactive under this regime.

“If Alfredo leaves, there will be two or three targets identified already. If you can’t get A, you move on to B and C.”

With the Light Blues set to return to action tonight as they kick off their pre-season friendlies against Partick Thistle, Morelos remains on the other side of the world with the Colombia squad at Copa America.

Any exit isn’t going to happen until Los Cafeteros are either out or crowned champions of Copa America so it doesn’t seem any move is imminent.

Rangers can’t let Morelos go on the cheap if he does leave

While Morelos’ Rangers future remains uncertain, the one thing that is certain is that Rangers can’t allow him to leave on the cheap.

The Gers have stood firm on their fee for the Colombian amid other interest previously and, with no pressure to sell, they shouldn’t be willing to let Morelos go easily.

The Colombian might make it clear that he wants to move on but until that becomes a reality, Rangers should be planning for a future with Morelos as part of Steven Gerrard’s squad.
