Rangers fans and legends gathered together to support club legend Fernando Ricksen at a charity event.
General view of Ibrox – Rangers
Dutchman Fernando Ricksen has always been a popular figure at Ibrox following his six-year tenure at the club. His never say die attitude on the pitch turned him into a fan favourite, and during his time there he helped Rangers win two SPL titles, two Scottish Cups and three League Cups.
As reported by the Daily Record, fans and legends gathered together for a charity ball recently in aid of raising money for Ricksen’s motor neurone disease foundation.
The 40-year-old has been battling the condition following his diagnosis back in 2013, and since that point he has managed to raise over an astounding £80,000 for MND Scotland in addition to starting his aforementioned foundation.
The likes of former teammates Allan McGregor and Nacho Novo were in attendance to show support for their friend. However, there were worries that Ricksen would not make the event due to an incident before he boarded his flight.
As he as travelling from Valencia to Amsterdam before eventually making his way to Scotland he was informed that he could not board the flight due to his illness. Thankfully the decision was reversed, and as a result a successful evening was had at Glasgow’s DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.
