Ibrox side Rangers have reportedly failed to secure the services of Niko Kranjcar in the summer transfer window.

Derek Johnstone has written in The Glasgow Evening Times that Rangers should not worry about missing out on Niko Kranjcar.
According to a recent report in The Daily Record, Kranjcar’s proposed move to Scottish Premiership-bound outfit Rangers is off.
It has been reported that the former Tottenham Hotspur star’s girlfriend, actress Zrinka Cvitesic, does not want to move to Scotland. This means that it is likely that the Croatian player will continue to play in the USA.

Former Rangers star Johnstone, who played for the Gers in the 1970s and the 1980s and is a club legend, believes that Mark Warburton’s side should not be too fussed about missing out on Kranjcar.
“Kranjcar was a decent player but also an experienced one,” Johnstone wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times. “That was important, you always need two or three experienced lads there as well. He’d have done a job.
“But, his wife is obviously wearing the trousers and wants to stay in America! I wouldn’t imagine it will be a problem for Mark. I’d like to think he’ll have someone else in mind.
“If the man doesn’t want to come, that’s that. There’s no point crying over spilt milk. Out of him and Joey Barton, I think Rangers have managed to sign the right one.”

Kranjcar would have been a good signing, and perhaps Rangers should continue their pursuit of the former Portsmouth attacking midfielder.
If the deal is indeed off for good, then Rangers fans should be glad that it did not linger for too long. The Glasgow club’s manager Warburton can now simply focus on other potential signings.
