Rangers legend, Ally McCoist, told talkSPORT on Thursday morning that he would ‘absolutely’ cheer Celtic-mad Kieran Tierney if he won the Europa League with Arsenal.
Since leaving Celtic, Tierney has won the FA Cup in England, with his Arsenal side now 180 minutes away from winning the Europa League.
Tierney would have been involved in some serious pressure moments when donning Celtic colours, both in finals and against Rangers themselves.
Well, that experience will be required on Thursday night, as Arsenal aim to overturn a 2-1 first-leg defeat against Villarreal.
Nonetheless, former Rangers man, McCoist was asked whether he would cheer the ex-Celtic defender if he lifts the Europa League trophy in Arsenal colours.
“Absolutely, with the Arsenal, not a problem,” said McCoist. “Absolutely, no problem.
“He can win everything he likes with this particular club that he’s with, at the moment. It’s his last club that I won’t be cheering.
On whether he would sing YNWA: “Arsenal fans don’t sing that.”
Tierney is currently on the sidelines with an injury and facing a race against time to be fit for the last legs of this campaign.
If Arsenal are to reach the final then they will want one of their key players ready and prepared for that big showdown, which will more than likely be against Manchester United.
But if he doesn’t then those in Scotland colours will also be sweating over his fitness for the Euros because he is a crucial member of Steve Clarke’s side.
