Despite his Ibrox history, Glasgow Rangers legend Lee McCulloch says ex-Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers invited him to Lennoxtown for a chat.

Rangers legend Lee McCulloch has revealed to The Glasgow Times that he remains grateful for the time Brendan Rodgers invited him to Celtic’s training ground.
Rodgers quit Celtic on Tuesday to become Leicester City’s new manager.
The Northern Irishman, whose Hoops team were eight points ahead of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race, was on course to lead the Glasgow giants to a third successive domestic treble.
Rodgers was never a popular figure on the blue half of the Old Firm divide due to his Celtic allegiances, but McCulloch’s anecdote might make Gers fans view him in a slightly more positive light.
The 40-year-old, who spent eight years at Ibrox as a player, reveals that Rodgers called and invited him to Lennoxtown to give the Scot managerial advice shortly after being fired by Kilmarnock in October of 2017.
“The morning after Celtic played Bayern Munich in the Champions League a couple of years back, he called me up and invited me in to have a chat and to watch training,” he told The Glasgow Evening Times.
“He was great. He had been sacked before at Reading and turned it around, so it was great to listen to his own experiences. He didn’t have to do that, taking time out of his busy schedule to be a sounding board for me.
“So, for me, that is the mark of the man, and I’ll never forget him doing that for me.”
Rangers had been also-rans during Rodgers’s three-year stint at Parkhead, but McCulloch says that his departure is a ‘massive lift’ for Steven Gerrard’s side.
He added: “His loss is a big one for Scottish football, a huge one for Celtic, and a massive lift for Rangers.”
