The experienced midfielder has joined Rangers on loan until the end of the season.
Rangers legend Lee McCulloch spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times and suggested that he is unsure as to where Steven Davis will fit into Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox.
The 34-year-old joined the Gers on a six-month loan deal from Southampton over the weekend, along with Jermain Defoe who has signed on an 18-month contract.
Davis’s arrival at Rangers is expected to really boost Rangers’ hopes of winning the Scottish Premiership title for the first time since 2011, but McCulloch is unsure as to where the Northern Irishman will slot into Gerrard’s team.
The former Rangers midfielder spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times, and suggested that Davis’s versatility makes it hard to predict where Gerrard will use him between now and the end of the season:
“Steven is so versatile that I don’t know exactly where he will fit into Gerrard’s team when the Scottish football season resumes after the winter break. Will he be the one who sits in? Or will he be the guy who goes forward? He is an all-round midfield player.”
Rangers currently sit in second spot in the Scottish Premiership table, but they will have to be at their very best, if they are to finish the season top of the pile.
The signings of Davis and Defoe will undoubtedly help them on they quest, and Gers fans will be waiting with bated breath to see the duo in action when Scottish football kicks off again later this month.
