New Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha took charge of one game at Ibrox before the international break.

Rangers legend John Brown has suggested that he expects Pedro Caixinha to have been working on the Gers squad’s fitness during the international break, as well as assessing the options he has ahead of his first full season at Ibrox, The Scottish Sun reports.
Caixinha has been in charge of the Light Blues for less than a month, having officially taken over shortly after the Old Firm draw with Celtic at Parkhead, and has only been in charge of the side for one game.
And while that game could not have gone much better for Rangers – they dispatched Hamilton 4-0 in the Scottish Premiership – Brown suggested that the Portuguese would have probably felt that there was still much to work on during the break.
“I think it came at the right time. It has given him a fortnight to get the fitness levels up,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
“I think he will think we need to increase the levels of fitness and the strengths of the team.
“It’s also a good time for him to assess the squad, to see what we’ve got for next season.”
The break was certainly the ideal time for Caixinha to get stuck in to the work he needs to do, with Lee Wallace and Lee Hodson being the only players handed call-ups by their respective nations.
And while Caixinha should not be under pressure for how the Gers get on this season, he will surely feel that he will need the side to continue to hit the ground running as the race for second in the Scottish Premiership heats up.
Rangers are currently eight points adrift of Aberdeen and have just nine games left to turn that situation around, so Caixinha will hope that the work done during the break reaps almost immediate dividends.
