Graeme Murty’s Rangers side take on Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park on Sunday.

Rangers legend Lee McCulloch delivered an impassioned message to his former club ahead of their huge Scottish Cup semi-final clash with bitter rivals Celtic on Sunday, when writing a column for the Glasgow Evening Times.

The Gers currently sit in second spot in the Scottish Premiership table, 13 points adrift of the Hoops, so the cup represents their only realistic chance of silverware this season.

Murty’s men also have the added incentive of being able to prevent their fierce rivals from winning back-to-back trebles.

McCulloch, who made 289 appearances for Rangers, explained what he would be telling the Gers players in the dressing room ahead of their clash with Celtic on Sunday, when writing a column for the Glasgow Evening Times:

“When you are at Rangers, it is all about winning, of course it is. If I am in that dressing room, I am determined to lift the Scottish Cup for myself, for my team-mates, for the club and the supporters. But you also know that it would stop back-to-back Trebles. For many reasons, this is huge for Rangers.”

Rangers have not beaten Celtic over 90 minutes in more than six years – a 12-game run that has seen the Hoops chalk up nine wins.

Murty’s men did beat Rodgers’ side in the Scottish Cup semi-final on penalties two years ago, however, so they should be going into the game with the belief that they are at least capable of turning over the league leaders.

The game kicks off at 14:30 and can be seen exclusively live on Sky Sports.
