Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side were far too good for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at the weekend.

Rangers legend Derek Johnstone spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times, and highlighted how much of a gap there still is between his former club and their bitter rivals Celtic, after watching last weekend’s Old Firm Derby.
At the start of the season, many fans and pundits alike predicted that the Gers would push the Hoops all the way for the league title, following Steven Gerrard’s appointment as manager and his impressive summer recruitment.
Rangers began their season in decent fashion too, but Sunday’s defeat to Celtic would have been a real wake-up call.
Johnstone, who scored 132 league goals for the Gers, spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times, and suggested that his former side did well to lose by just one goal on Sunday:

“I have been saying for weeks now that what will really count is how Rangers did at Celtic Park, that the first derby will tell us where the team really is in terms of closing the gap. It was a disappointing Sunday. The better team won and Rangers weren’t good. Not good at all. If all the Rangers fans are true to themselves, we did well to come away from Parkhead with a 1-0.”
Next up for Rangers is a home game against Dundee is eight days time, and noting less than a comprehensive win will do for Gerrard’s men, if they have any hope of overhauling Celtic this term.
