Rangers legend Barry Ferguson admitted that he was really surprised to see Brendan Rodgers’ reaction to his suggestion that the Hoops were lucky to win last month’s Old Firm Derby, when writing a column for the Daily Record.

The two Glasgow giants prepare to face off against each other at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday, with both sides desperate to put one over their bitter rivals.

Brendan Rodgers manager of Celtic celebrates victory after the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rodgers’ men are looking to win back-to-back trebles, and Murty’s side will be desperate to stop them from doing just that, for obvious reasons.

Ferguson, who made over 400 appearances for Rangers over the course of two separate spells with the club, explained how he was surprised to hear Rodgers’ strong reaction to his comments suggesting that Celtic were lucky to win the Old Firm game at Ibrox last month, when writing his column for the Daily Record:

Blackpool manager Barry Ferguson reacts during the Sky Bet Championship match between Blackpool and Charlton Athletic at Bloomfield Road on May 03, 2014 in Blackpool, England.

“When I said Brendan Rodgers got lucky in last month’s derby it seemed to get right under the Celtic manager’s skin. I was surprised that he chose to react so strongly and it’s a pity if I upset him because I have nothing but the utmost respect for him and everything he has done in the game. But I’m not in the least bit sorry.”

Sunday’s clash is bound to be as fiery as ever, and the Hoops head into the contest as 3/5 favourites, whilst Rangers can be backed at around 4/1.
