Steven Gerrard’s Rangers will play either Legia Warsaw or Atromitos should they win their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round tie against FC Midtjylland.

All four teams have lots of work to do before even considering the possibility of a play-off to reach the group stages of the competition.

Rangers’ task is difficult with the Danish side sure to prove a tough test over two legs, the first of which is away from home this Thursday.

Gerrard’s side weren’t very convincing against Progres last week and will know a higher standard of performance will be required to see off teams if they want to make the group stages for the second successive season.

However, it’s always interesting for fans to see who is on the horizon and before a ball is kicked in the third qualifying round, their play-off fate has been determined.

Considering some of the big sides they could have faced, such as English Premier League outfit Wolves, PSV Eindhoven or Steaua Bucharest, the Gers can be pretty satisfied with Monday’s draw.

Legia were dumped out of qualifying in both European competitions last season, while Greek outfit Atromitos have never made it to the group stages in their history.

Some fans are feeling confident about it all, though some have warned not to take the challenge of Midtjylland lightly.
