According to a recent report from The Sun, Rangers are considering making a move to sign Fleetwood Town striker Devante Cole on a pre-contract deal after his brilliant season with the League One side.

Cole has been hugely impressive for Uwe Rosler’s men, and The Sun reports that he is attracting some attention from a couple of Championship sides as his contract has less than six months to run.

The Sun reports however, that their inability to sort out a fee for the 22-year-old has given Rangers a chance to weigh up whether to try and agree a deal that would see him head to Ibrox in the summer.

Of course, it would be underwhelming if Cole was the only striker addition that the Gers made in the next couple of windows given that he is yet to prove himself at a level higher than England’s third tier, and his form has really only stood out this season with 10 goals coming in 26 league games.

But given that he would arrive at the end of his contract at Highbury if Rangers managed to pull off a deal, there are surely few complaints that Gers fans could have if he was one of a handful of attackers that arrived through the door.

He is young enough to improve further in the coming years and playing for Rangers would present him with the opportunities to get better as they strive to be on the front foot in virtually every game that they play.

Considering that he could end up costing practically nothing, there seems every chance that, if Rangers win the race for the youngster, it could prove to be an absolutely inspired deal in the future.
