Rangers continue their pursuit of a new boss, but Kevin Thomson seemingly won’t be part of the new era at Ibrox, whoever land the job.
The Gers lost manager Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa last week as he left Ibrox to replace Dean Smith.
Rangers can’t have been expecting to be hunting for a new manager at this stage in the season, but now have to move quickly.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is the current favourite for the job after holding talks over the weekend.
The Times have added that Rangers want Van Bronckhorst to have a Scottish coach working alongside him at Ibrox.
A number of names have been suggested, but Thomson really set tongues wagging earlier today.
Currently in charge of Kelty Hearts in Scottish League Two, Thomson joined Rangers in 2007.
The midfielder spent three-and-a-half years at Ibrox, making 109 appearances for Rangers.

Thomson took to Twitter earlier today to post a photo of himself in a Rangers shirt alongside a handshake emoji.
Many Rangers fans took that to mean that Thomson had agreed a return to Ibrox and would be working with Van Bronckhorst.
However, Thomson has since posted that it was just an old photo with no other meaning, claiming the post wasn’t meant to hint at a return to Ibrox.
