Kenny Miller spent five seasons at Wolves and would be an experiened back-up if he returned to Molineux from Rangers.
After three spells at Rangers spanning over 17 years, Kenny Miller’s career with the Ibrox giants may have ended in the least fitting way possible.
Caixinha was also apparently furious with Miller taking the armband from Graham Dorrans when he came off the bench against Celtic, seeing the action as a sign of disobedience. And, as a result, Miller was omitted from Rangers’ squad for their trip to Hamilton on Friday night and instead forced to travel to Brentford with the club’s Under-20s.
This is not the first time Caixinha has banished a senior player from his squad and you wonder whether Miller may be forced to follow in the footsteps of Rob Kiernan, Harry Forrester and co and leave at the earliest opportunity.
Though there should be no shortage of clubs willing to take a chance on the wily old goalscorer who, at 37 years of age, is as sharp as ever. He was the only Rangers player to hit double figures in the league last season and the fact that fans were clamouring for him to be handed a new one-year deal spoke volumes.
Return to the wolf pack?
And while former club Wolves have made a habit out of bringing in young, talented imports largely for hefty fees, Miller returning to Molineux in January could prove every bit as astute as the big-money signings of Diogo Jota or Ruben Neves.
After all, Leo Bonatini is the only senior centre-forward on Wolves’ books and Miller, who donned the ‘old gold’ between 2001 and 2006, would offer some much needed back-up. His Championship experience, too, could come in handy in a squad filled with players who have never been forced to endure the gruelling 46-game season in England’s second tier.
With Miller possibly available in January, this is just something for Wolves to consider.
