Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers loaned out or sold plenty of players who are now dazzling.

Kenny Miller has suggested to Sky Sports that he agrees with Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha’s decision to loan out Michael O’Halloran and other under-performing players.

Caixinha’s decision to sanction O’Halloran’s short-term loan to St Johnstone has come under scrutiny as of late after the 26-year-old scored four times in his first league games.

The Glasgow-born forward, a £500,000 signing by Mark Warburton in January 2016, has scored more Premiership goals than any player that has remained at Ibrox under the Portuguese – Alfredo Morelos has three.

And although Miller is happy to see his team-mate scoring goals, the 37-year-old suggests that O’Halloran and Joe Dodoo, who scored on his Charlton Athletic debut last week, are out on loan for a reason.

He told Sky Sports: “He wasn’t playing for us so the manager made his decision, which he has done on a number of players and not just Michael, but it’s good to see him doing well.

“It never quite worked for him in the 18 months he was here but he’s comfortable at that place [St Johnstone]. He knows it well and they know him well.

“It’s always nice to see a team-mate go out and do well, like Joe Dodoo did last week, scoring the winner for Charlton. We’ve got players out on loan and they’re out on loan for a reason so it’s important they continue to play and play well.”

Caixinha’s decision to sell Barrie McKay, Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner have also been questioned, with all three enjoying excellent starts to life in the Championship down South.

O’Halloran has only netted three league goals for Rangers since joining, so it is difficult to argue that the 46-year-old had an abundance of reason to keep him in Glasgow.
