Have Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers missed Martyn Waghorn since leaving the Scottish Premiership?

Former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha made a lot of mistakes in last summer’s transfer window.

To his credit, the Portuguese pulled off some very good deals, but other decisions weren’t so smart and is letting Martyn Waghorn leave one of them?

The 28-year-old joined Championship side Ipswich Town for a reported £1 million in August but, considering the English striker has netted 16 league goals and set up another 11, maybe he would have done more for the Gers this season than, say, Eduardo Herrera for instance.

No Championship player was involved in more goals than the Ipswich hitman last term, and former Rangers team-mate Josh Windass has paid tribute to the talented marksman on Twitter.

Martyn Waghorn of Rangers is seen on arrival at the stadium prior to the Scottish Cup Semi-Final match between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park on April 23, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

For whatever reason, Waghorn, whose goals led the Gers to promotion in 2016, struggled in the Scottish Premiership.

The former Wigan Athletic ace only managed seven goals and four assists in 32 top-flight appearances during the 2016-17 campaign under Mark Warburton, and later Caixinha, who sanctioned his exit.

Nevertheless, he clearly would have provided better competition for Alfredo Morelos this season than Herrera or Kenny Miller and therefore you wonder if his sale was a mistake.
