Rangers’ Josh Windass admits a weakness in his game

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Josh Windass has been at Ibrox since the summer of 2016.

Rangers winger Josh Windass has admitted to The Daily Record that he needs to work on the defensive side of his game.

Windass is a very talented and promising winger, and the 23-year-old is brilliant when he goes on the attack.

The former Accrington Stanley star, who officially joined Rangers in the summer of 2016 when Mark Warburton was in charge of the Gers, has admitted that he needs to work on the defensive side of his game.

“I need to work on the defensive side of my game, everybody knows that,” Windass told The Daily Record.

“Defensively, my concentration could be better. It gets drummed into me all the time that I need to focus on that side of the game.

“The manager tells me that quite a lot. My first thought is always to try to attack but in some of the games we have had, when it’s been backs against the wall, you need to be switched on defensively.”

“If I can get a few more goals and create a few more chances then hopefully I can stay in the team,” added Windass. “I had to gain the manager’s trust when he came in, like you have to do with every new boss.”

Windass is a very good winger, and although things have not gone according to plan so far at Rangers, the Ibrox outfit should be confident about him.

Pedro Caixinha is a very demanding manager and is a very good coach, and one suspects that the winger will learn more about his defensive responsibility as the season progresses.

If the 23-year-old does what is expected of him and follows Caixinha’s instructions during matches, then he could develop into one of the best players for Rangers this season.
