Rangers have been linked with a move for Josh Onomah and it looks like the midfielder will now be leaving Fulham ahead of deadline day.

The Gers have already brought in Todd Cantwell from Norwich City but Michael Beale wants more new additions.

Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin and Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker appear to be the top targets for Rangers.

Another name linked in recent times is Fulham midfielder Josh Onomah.

Pete O’Rourke told Give Me Sport in December that Onomah was certainly on Beale’s wish list having targeted him for Queens Park Rangers.

Rangers do need to freshen up their midfield and adding a forward-thinking player like Onomah may not be the worst idea.

Rangers target Josh Onomah set for Fulham exit

Sky Sports now report that Onomah looks set to leave Fulham in the coming hours.

It’s suggested that Fulham are now in talks to rip up Onomah’s contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

The expectation is that Onomah will become a free agent very soon, allowing him to make a move away from Craven Cottage.

This means Onomah would still be allowed to join a new club outside of the transfer window.

Championship clubs are understood to be keen on Onomah too, meaning Rangers will face a battle if they do want to sign Onomah.

The 25-year-old was thought to be a wonderkid with Tottenham Hotspur after being branded a ’special player’ at just 18 by Mauricio Pochettino, but his career hasn’t quite gone to plan.

Onomah moved to Fulham in 2019 as part of the deal that took Ryan Sessegnon to Tottenham.

Five goals and eight assists in 76 games for Fulham isn’t a terrible record but it’s not quite what many expected from his career.

Onomah has played just 14 minutes of league action this season and it’s time for him to move on in search of first-team action elsewhere.

There is still time for Onomah to turn it around and Rangers may see him as a quality player who just needs a new home – just like Cantwell.
