Rangers winger Jordan Jones is set to return to Ibrox after failing to help Sunderland secure promotion to the Championship while on loan with the Black Cats – and it looks as though any chance the Gers had of shipping him off to the Stadium of Light permanently are dead.
Jones joined Sunderland in the winter transfer window but with Sunderland now stuck in League One for another year, it seems unlikely they’ll be willing to cough up the reported £600,000 Rangers want for the Northern Irishman.
The former Kilmarnock star has made 21 appearances for the Mackems, scoring three times and chipping in with four assists, but couldn’t get off the bench in the second leg as they lost 3-2 on aggregate to Lincoln City in the Playoffs.
Prior to that, Jones had regularly featured in the starting XI for Lee Johnson’s side but will return to Ibrox after his loan deal came to an end.
His Ibrox future doesn’t look good whatsoever after falling out of the picture completely and having several mis-steps as a Rangers player in his short time at the club.
With the likes of Ryan Kent, Ianis Hagi, Kemar Roofe and Scott Wright ahead of him, it doesn’t look likely that there will be a reprieve at Rangers for Jones.

Another loan move may be likely but it would make more sense for Rangers if they looked for a permanent move for Jones.
