Former Rangers winger Jordan Jones has penned an emotional letter to Gers fans after his move to Wigan was confirmed yesterday – admitting “once a bear, always a bear.”

Jones moved to the Latics on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, bring an end to two years at Rangers for the Northern Irish international.

The former Kilmarnock star struggled to make an impact at Ibrox with several off-field issues doing little to help his case – in addition to a red card and serious injury picked up in his Old Firm debut.

A loan stint at Sunderland last season saw Jones get the chance to put himself in the shop window as Steven Gerrard trims the fat from his bloated squad this summer.

While there weren’t many high points for Jones’ Rangers career, the winger played a part, calling the experience of beating Legia Warsaw with a last-minute winner to reach the group stages of the Europa League something that will stay with him forever.

Jones thanked the Rangers fans for their support and admits he will “always be grateful” for the chance to play for “such a massive club” as he wished the Gers success in the future.

“Thank you to everybody at Rangers FC for the last two years,” Jones wrote on social media.

“I am immensely proud to have played for such a massive club and it is something I will always be grateful for.

“I wish all the staff, the manager, players and fans nothing but success for the future.

“I’ve said before you cannot compare the fans of the club to anywhere else in the world.

“Whether it’s a home game in the league or an away game in Europe, the following is beyond special.

“I will never forget the night we beat Legia in the last minute of the Europa League to get to the group stage and the roof coming off Ibrox.

“Walking around that pitch after the game that night in front of a full house was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had in my life.

“Moments like that will stay with me forever.

“Once a bear, always a bear.”
