Rangers will soon learn the fate of their pursuit for Hearts central defender John Souttar as he nears a decision on his future.
The Daily Record reported earlier this week that Souttar wants to join Rangers this month rather than in the summer.
Rangers were planning talks with the defender this week with the aim of securing a pre-contract agreement, then possibly leveraging that into a cut-price cash deal now.
With Souttar seemingly keen on a move to Ibrox, Rangers are now hoping to secure his signature.
STV report that Souttar has now narrowed his transfer decision down to one of three clubs – and Rangers are one of them.
Two English Championship clubs are also in the race, but Rangers are let waiting for Souttar’s final answer.
The signs seem to be pointing in Rangers’ direction, especially after that claim that Souttar wants to join.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and seems ready to take his chance at a move away from Hearts.
Praised as ‘incredible’ by Kyle Lafferty, Souttar has bounced back from three achilles tears to enjoy a great season with Hearts and even re-establish himself with Scotland.
With Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun out of contract this summer and Jack Simpson potentially leaving, Souttar would be a valuable option for Rangers either now or at the end of the season.
