On Tuesday though, Rangers completed their biggest signing of the summer, luring midfielder Joey Barton to Ibrox on a two-year contract.
The 33-year-old has just helped Burnley win promotion to the Premier League, and despite having the chance to play in the top flight with the Clarets next season, Barton has committed his future to Rangers.

A former England international, Barton was one of the most controversial figures in English football during spells with Manchester City, Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers, but rebuilt his reputation with a superb spell at Burnley.
Now a Rangers player, Barton will be relied upon for bite, determination and experience in the middle of the park, and it’s fair to say that fans are excited about his arrival.
