Rangers Joey Barton has more to prove than Celtic’s Scott Brown, not the other way around.

Joey Barton has not taken long after clinching a move to Rangers to start a the war of words with Celtic.
Targeting Celtic skipper Scott Brown, he declared he is by far a superior player to his new rival.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, he said: “People keep talking about Joey Barton and Scott Brown.
“He ain’t in my league. He is nowhere the level I am as a player. He can’t get to me.”

Consider the gauntlet thrown down.
But while Barton may be a loud mouth off the pitch, he could be left with egg on his face if he cannot back up his comments.
Barton may be pull of confidence after leading Burnley to win promotion to the Premier League, but apart from this and another Championship campaign with Newcastle United, he has not won anything else in his career.

Brown on the other hand is a multiple league winner with Celtic, six times, plus two Scottish Cups, two Scottish League Cups, and a League Cup with Hibernian.
Now Barton may scoff that it does not count for as much because of a lack of quality opposition, but he would be wrong, for Brown’s achievements are very relevant with the two set to do battle in Scotland.
Brown is no shrinking violet and Barton’s comments will only motivate him further to assert his authority when the two meet next season.

He, unlike Barton, has experience playing in the Champions League against the very best, the likes of Barcelona and AC Milan, a competition the new Rangers signing has never played in.
The Scotsman is also an international footballer, while Barton has managed only one cap for England back in 2007 and has not even been in contention since.
Barton has put Brown on the spot with his disrespectful comments, but it is he who is piling pressure on himself, and has no experience playing in Scottish football, and it is he who has a point to prove and not the other way around.
