Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers and Celtic could make it a fascinating Scottish Premiership title race.

For many fans of Scottish football, the question is simple: Can Rangers stop Celtic from winning a ninth successive Premiership title?
But for Gers hitman Jermain Defoe, the question is quite the opposite.
Speaking to BT Sport, Defoe claims that the onus is on Celtic to stop Rangers from going all the way this season, not the other way around.
The legendary striker said: “I think [Celtic] have to stop us, to be honest. I don’t want to sit there and say ‘we’re going to win the league’ or ‘we’re going to do this’.
“We’ll take each game as it comes and obviously we want to have a good season on all fronts; the league, the cups and in Europe. I believe that we’re good enough to do that, so hopefully we can.”
Rangers flashed their title credentials with a hard-fought 1-0 win at St Mirren this afternoon which keeps their 100 percent start to the league season in tact.
The ability to grind out tough games is often said to be the hallmark of potential champions, and Steven Gerrard’s side certainly did that today as the Gers moved top, albeit temporarily.
Likewise, Celtic maintained their 100 percent record by beating Hearts at Parkhead to go back above the Bears on goal difference.
It’s still very early days, but the signs so far indicate that it could be a fascinating Premiership title race.
