The Glasgow Rangers captain was impressive as Steven Gerrard and co secured an emphatic win at Ibrox this weekend.

Glasgow Rangers captain James Tavernier has taken to Twitter with a short but sweet message in reaction to Steven Gerrard and co securing an emphatic win at Ibrox on Saturday.
The Gers equalled their biggest ever victory over Aberdeen at Ibrox by hammering them 5-0 and edging to within a point of Celtic, who dropped points against Hibernian earlier in the day.
Tavernier redeemed his recent penalty miss against Feyenoord by stepping up to the spot twice and delivering on both occasions, his first goal opening the scoring at Ibrox.
Greg Stewart also scored his first goal for Rangers, while Alfredo Morelos and substitute Jermain Defoe heaped more misery on the Dons, equalling their 5-0 rout from the 2004-05 season.
The result caps off a good week for the Light Blues, who in midweek sealed their place in the semi-finals of the Scottish League cup thanks to a 1-0 win away at Livingston.
Here is Tavernier’s verdict on the day’s events:
Needless to say plenty of Bears took the time to respond to him with positive comments:
Up next for the Gers is Thursday’s Europa League group game away at BSC Young Boys.
