Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Jak Alnwick will spend the rest of the season away from Ibrox.

Jak Alnwick has taken to Twitter to express his excitement after it was announced that the Rangers goalkeeper has extended his loan spell for the rest of the season.
Following Allan McGregor’s Ibrox return in the summer, Alnwick left the Gers to join Scunthorpe United on a loan deal that was initially scheduled to end this month.
Alnwick’s stock has arguably risen during his time away from Glasgow. The Englishman performed well whenever he was given a chance for the Gers, but his spell with Scunthorpe has probably done a better job of highlighting his potential given that he has featured regularly at Glanford Park.

There are surely still some question marks regarding whether he has a long-term future at Ibrox. McGregor is perhaps playing as well as he ever has done, and Wes Foderingham is a fantastic understudy to have.
But if Alnwick continues to impress while away and Foderingham perhaps decides to seek a new challenge, then you would imagine that he could well be McGregor’s backup stopper next season.

For now though, Alnwick has tweeted about the loan extension, and his comments and the club’s announcement have prompted a number of Scunthorpe fans to respond.
