Rangers battled to a 2-1 win away at Hearts yesterday in what could be a momentous victory.

The Gers seized their moment to move to the top of the table, with Celtic not playing a league game this weekend.

It is an important psychological boost for Rangers to reach the top, even if it is only temporary.

The Gers are enjoying their moment, posting on Instagram their delight at being top of the league.

The problem with this, is that Rangers’ success will spur Celtic on.

And if Celtic’s players or management saw Rangers’ Instagram post, it will give them extra motivation to go and reclaim their position at the top of the table.

The more gloating and celebration which comes from Rangers and their supporters will intensify Celtic’s desire to make sure they go on to win the league.

Celtic are still favourites to do so, and can climb back above Rangers by winning their game in hand.

They won the Scottish League Cup yesterday against Aberdeen, and are pushing to win a ‘treble treble’ this season.
