Glasgow Rangers hope to keep Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox amid reported interest from abroad.

Glasgow Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos is being linked with a switch from Ibrox to San Siro as Italian side AC Milan are keeping an eye on the Colombian goal machine, according to the Glasgow Evening Times.

The report claims that the Serie A outfit had a scout at Ibrox last week for the second leg of the Europa League tie with Gibraltar’s St Joseph’s as Morelos scored a hat-trick en route to a 6-0 win for Steven Gerrard’s side.

In addition, the 23-year-old – who has also been linked with German side Eintracht Frankfurt – was reportedly being monitored on Thursday as he took part in Rangers’ 2-0 victory over Progres Niederkorn at Ibrox, but the Evening Times claims no bids have been made for him just yet.

Milan are one of Italy’s most successful, historic and famous clubs, with seven European Cups in their cabinet (Transfermarkt), but they have endured a difficult few years in which a top-four finish has eluded them since 2012-13, so they will be desperate to rebuild in order to once again sit at the top table.

There appears to be a lot of potential movement in the Rossoneri’s front line at present, with Andre Silva reportedly earmarked for an exit (Il Milanista), Patrick Cutrone being heavily linked with Wolves (Football Italia) and Rafael Leao a potential incoming (RMC) for Rangers legend Gennaro Gattuso’s former side.

It would seem that, should Cutrone seal a move to the English Premier League club – and it’s looking that way – it could potentially pave the way for a replacement to be needed by Milan – which is where the reported interest in Morelos could potentially become something more concrete.

Morelos has made 93 Rangers appearances since his 2017 switch from HJK, scoring an impressive 52 goals and registering 19 assists; 18 and 8 in his first Gers season, and 30 and 11 in his second, according to Transfermarkt.
