Holt had been missing for over a month before returning for Glasgow Rangers’ recent clash against Ross County.
Rangers’ Jason Holt
Rangers hero Derek Johnstone has told the Evening Times that the Gers had missed Jason Holt’s energy during the month that he spent on the sidelines, and claimed that he is hoping to see the 23-year-old ready for Sunday’s clash with Aberdeen.
The midfielder made his return to Mark Warburton’s side for their recent draw with Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, and then followed that up by opening the scoring in their 5-0 thrashing of Queen of the South in the League Cup in midweek.

However, the victory was somewhat tainted as Holt was taken off at half-time, leaving some fans concerned that he had perhaps suffered a recurrence of the problem that had kept him sidelined.
And ahead of a tricky clash against the Dons, Johnstone has outlined Holt’s importance to the side as they look to pick up their first league win for four games.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton
“We have missed Jason Holt’s energy over the last few weeks and hopefully he is OK for the game on Sunday,” he told the Evening Times.
“Rangers go there in a better frame of mind and they will have to be positive. They will give Aberdeen problems going forward and hopefully they are up to the task defensively as well.”

With the summer signings in midfield yet to really make a positive impact for the Light Blues – though, Matt Crooks only made his debut on Tuesday – Warburton will surely be looking to players like Holt to help steer them through this difficult patch.
The former Hearts man’s form was crucial to their hopes of securing promotion, and he backed up his performances in the middle of the park by scoring 12 strikes in all competitions.
And with Rangers struggling for goals in the top flight, that kind of return would surely be most welcome this year.
