Rangers defender George Edmundson may now be in a battle for his Ibrox future after being suspended by the club.
The centre back was spotted at a party with Rangers teammate Jordan Jones over the weekend, breaking lockdown protocol.
The pair now have to self-isolate for 14 days, but they are now being subjected to an ‘internal investigation’, as confirmed by the club’s official website.
Some now believe that both players have played their final games for Rangers, believing that Steven Gerrard simply won’t stand for their off-field actions.
This would be a major disappointment in the case of Edmundson, who has shown signs of being a strong defender for the future since joining from Oldham Athletic in 2019.
He’s only fourth choice at the moment, having to make do with a role behind Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Leon Balogun this season, whilst Nikola Katic will be returning in 2021.

The 23-year-old has only played twice this season for a total of 104 minutes, and scored an own goal against Motherwell in September – one of just three league goals Rangers have conceded this season.
Now, Rangers hero Brian Laudrup has told The Scottish Daily Mail (03/11, p84) that he wonders whether Edmundson is unhappy at being down the pecking order, but feels he needs to obey the rules no matter what his squad role is at Ibrox.
“Edmundson has only started one game – against Lincoln Red Imps – and made one more substitute appearance. He is fourth-choice centre back, and I don’t know whether he is happy about that or not, but it doesn’t matter when it comes to something like this.”
“You need to stick together if you are part of a squad. You need to obey the rules surrounding the club and do everything you can to try and make the club successful. Whether or not you are staring matches,” he added.
