Rangers will go into this weekend’s Old Firm clash with bitter rivals Celtic looking to make if five games unbeaten this term against the Parkhead side – and Gers boss Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Fil Helander and Scott Arfield are likely to miss the remainder of the campaign.
The Light Blues have three wins and a draw from four meetings with Celtic this term and sit three games from an unbeaten league season as a historic campaign nears its end.
Speaking to the press ahead of the Old Firm this weekend, Gerrard said it was “likely” both would miss the remaining three games.
Helander has been a key figure in the Gers’ defence this term but limped off late on in the midweek Scottish Cup defeat by St. Johnstone – with Jack Simpson likely to deputise on Sunday at Ibrox.
The Swedish international will be hoping it doesn’t end his chances of going to Euro 2020 after a fantastic season for Rangers saw him cement his place as first-choice alongside Connor Goldson.
Arfield has been in and out of the side with injuries this term, picking up his latest injury in the build-up to the Scottish Cup tie with St. Johnstone.
The Canadian’s absence leaves Rangers short in midfield with Ryan Jack already out for the rest of the season through injury and Bongani Zungu suspended.

That leaves Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara and Steven Davis almost certain to start on Sunday in midfield and seriously limits Gerrard’s options for final three games.
