Rangers have not given up on bringing George Edmundson to Ibrox in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Rangers could still go back in for Oldham Athletic defender Edmundson despite Portsmouth having agreed a £600,000 fee.

The 21-year-old defender has yet to speak to Portsmouth and will discuss his future with his agent and family this weekend before opening talks with interested clubs, according to the report.

According to The Daily Record, Edmundson will join a club only if it is right for him, and Rangers know that the youngster is keen on a move to Ibrox in the summer transfer window.

Good signing for Rangers?

If £600,000 is what it takes to sign Edmundson in the summer transfer window, then Rangers should just pay it and bring the defender to Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard’s side do need a central defender for next season, and the 21-year-old does fit the bill, as the Gers aim to challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
