Glasgow Rangers player Matt Crooks could be on his way out of Ibrox in the summer transfer window.

Northampton Town are interested in signing Matt Crooks from Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to The Herald.

It has been reported that Northampton are leading the race to secure the services of Crooks, who can operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder.

According to the report, Scottish Premiership club Rangers have accepted a bid from the League One club in England.

Scunthorpe United are also claimed to be interested in the 23-year-old, but Graham Alexander’s side have yet to meet the Gers’ valuation of the player.

Crooks played on loan for Scunthorpe during the second half of last season, scoring three goals in 12 League One appearances in the process, according to The Herald.

The former Accrington Stanley man has been on the books of Rangers since the summer of 2016 and was signed by Mark Warburton, who is now in charge of Nottingham Forest in the Championship in England, but he failed to make an impact at Ibrox last season and struggled with injury problems.

The Englishman is a good player, but things have not turned out the way they were supposed to for him at Rangers.
